RASPBERRY (Rubus idaeus L.)

Work on raspberry breeding in the Fruit Research Institute started in 1959. The aims of raspberry selection is to create cultivars that are thornless, high productivity, long harvesting season, with increased resistance to unfavorable biotic and abiotic factors. Very important is resistance to raspberry root rot (Phytophthora rubi), raspberry spur blight (Didymella applanata) and large raspberry aphid (Amphorophora ideai). Some of the most important characteristics of the fruit are: size and shape, firmness, color, taste, suitability to different processing methods, postharvest response and ease of harvest.

Three raspberry cultivars have been released so far:

  1. Gradina
  2. Krupna dvorodna
  3. Podgorina
