STRAWBERRY (Fragaria x ananassa L.)

Work on selecting and creating new strawberry cultivars began in 1959. In addition to the quality of the fruit, the goal in strawberry breeding and selection is to move the ripening periods, increase yields and resistance to adverse biotic and abiotic factors of environment. Special attention is paid to size and shape stability fruit throughout the period of maturation, intense red berry skin and flesh, and the lack of a centered cavity.
